A Retell alternative set up for medical and optical practices
If you are weighing a Retell alternative for a medical or optical practice, start with who builds the phone agent. Retell provides businesses and contact centres, including healthcare organisations, with a platform for configuring AI phone agents to answer calls, book appointments and transfer requests to staff. ClinicAll is a receptionist made only for practices: our team sets it up with your opening hours, sites and rules, and your staff test it before any patient hears it.
Both answer the phone in the practice’s name. ClinicAll transfers to the desk when it is staffed and a transfer line is configured; otherwise it takes a callback request. Where they part is in what you configure yourself, which booking systems each one writes to, and what you agree to before the first call goes through.
This ClinicAll vs Retell page describes both from each vendor’s own pages, cell by cell, without rating either. The other receptionists and options we have described sit on the comparison hub. Below, you will find who configures each receptionist and how appointment requests, languages and call transfers differ.
Who each one is for
Retell suits an organisation that wants to design its own agent: the call flow, the instructions, the tools it calls and the numbers it answers on. Its use-case pages speak to contact centres and to businesses across many sectors, healthcare among them. A care group that already runs other phone lines can keep them all on one platform.
Retell’s medical receptionist page says the agent answers at any hour, reads real availability and books the appointment in the practice’s software. The same page says it gives no medical advice and can run on the practice’s own number. It lists connections to calendar tools and to several practice management systems, so check whether yours is among them before anything else.
Retell’s pricing page shows two plans, Pay as you go and Enterprise, and a trial to start using the platform. Pay-as-you-go use is presented without a minimum term, and the bill follows how much your agents are used. That model rewards a team that is ready to build, test and adjust the agent on its own.
ClinicAll is for a practice that wants the phone answered without turning it into a software project. The owner or the person running the desk joins a demo call and receives a written quote. Our team then configures the receptionist with your sites, appointment types and urgency rules, and connects it to your practice software where a connector exists.
What happens to an appointment depends on that software. With Mikrono, the appointment is in your diary at the end of the call. With XEYEX, still being rolled out, the receptionist holds a slot and your team confirms it. Any other system works by callback: the appointment request reaches your team, who call the patient back to confirm it.
Practices in Luxembourg and Lorraine hear more than one language at the front desk. On each call, the receptionist works out which language is being spoken. French and English are verified on lines already in service, and we validate any other language on your line before go-live. Set-up and later support come from a team that works in French, from Luxembourg.
Callers are greeted in the name of your front desk. Anyone who asks learns that they are speaking with the practice’s virtual receptionist, which never claims to be a person. The steps from demo to live line are set out in how ClinicAll answers your practice phone. Before choosing either option, put your own call volume into the missed calls calculator to see what unanswered calls weigh on your week.

Where Retell is the better fit
Retell provides a platform for teams that configure their own phone agent. It lets your team or an integrator write the instructions, choose the tools the agent calls and change them whenever you like. ClinicAll keeps that work on our side: your practice approves the answers, but the setup itself is ours.
Compare Retell’s listed integrations with your practice software before choosing how appointment requests will be handled. Retell’s medical receptionist page says the agent reads real availability and books in the practice’s software. ClinicAll writes to Mikrono today and is rolling out XEYEX; for every other system, your team receives each appointment as a callback request, not a diary entry.
Languages are a third difference. Retell’s language support page lists a long range of languages, French and English among them. ClinicAll has French and English verified on lines already in service, and we validate any other language on your line before go-live. A practice whose patients mostly call in a third language may find Retell’s list closer to its needs.
Terms point the same way. Retell’s pricing page offers a trial and presents pay-as-you-go use without a minimum term. ClinicAll has no trial: we show the receptionist during a demo, then quote the setup in writing. On the term, the answer is this: it is set in the written quote, before go-live; every plan has a minimum term.
Both keep a record of each call. Retell’s session history documentation describes call summaries in a dashboard, and in ClinicAll’s dashboard your team finds each caller’s number next to a summary and the transcript, ready for the follow-up. Hosting is not where they differ: Retell’s compliance documentation offers no EU hosting, and ClinicAll’s voice and telephony providers also process calls in the United States, as our security page lists provider by provider.
Both offer a data processing agreement under the GDPR, which Retell’s compliance documentation states for its side. What to check in either agreement is covered in the guide to GDPR and voice assistants in a practice. Retell’s site does not say whether its support works in French; ClinicAll’s team does, from Luxembourg.
Handing a caller to a person works differently too. Retell’s receptionist pages say the agent transfers requests to staff and takes callback requests. ClinicAll transfers to the desk when it is staffed and a transfer line is configured; otherwise it takes a callback request. It never moves or cancels an appointment itself: your team confirms.
When each of those two routes suits your desk is set out in the guide on call transfer or callback request. If ClinicAll looks closer to your practice, call the demo line to hear the receptionist, then read how pricing works: a 30-minute call with us is followed by a price in writing.
Questions
Is ClinicAll a Retell alternative for a medical practice?
Yes, for a practice that wants the receptionist configured for it rather than built in-house. Retell is a platform on which your team or an integrator configures AI phone agents. ClinicAll’s team sets up the receptionist with your sites, appointment types and urgency rules, and your staff test it before go-live.
Does Retell book appointments in practice software?
Its medical receptionist page says so: the agent reads real availability and books in the practice’s software. Check that your system is on the integrations it lists. ClinicAll books into Mikrono, is rolling out XEYEX, and sends every other appointment to your team as a callback request.
Does ClinicAll have a free trial like Retell?
No. We show the receptionist during a 30-minute demo, then the setup is quoted in writing. Retell’s pricing page offers a trial and presents pay-as-you-go use without a minimum term. For ClinicAll, the term is fixed this way: it is set in the written quote, before go-live; every plan has a minimum term.
Where is call data processed with Retell and with ClinicAll?
Largely in the United States for both. Retell’s compliance documentation offers no EU hosting, and ClinicAll’s voice and telephony providers also process calls there, while its dashboard is hosted in Germany. Both offer a data processing agreement under the GDPR.
Which languages do Retell and ClinicAll handle?
Retell’s language support page lists a long range of languages, French and English among them. ClinicAll detects the caller’s language and has French and English verified on lines already in service. Any other language is validated on your line before go-live.
